BOOK DONATION GUIDELINES

Because of a shortage of sorting volunteers due to the pandemic and the closure of the Lantana Square Recycling Center, we are asking for your help in reducing the number of unsaleable books that are donated. Please do not donate the following:
  1. Magazines and newspapers
  2. Encyclopedias
  3. old textbooks
  4. Technical manuals and books
  5. Books with torn covers, broken bindings and stained or mildewed books
  6. Underlined or highlighted books
  7. Older health or self-help books
  8. Annual issues of cookbooks or holiday books (Ex: Southern Living, Cooks Illustrated, etc.)
  9. Travel guides more than 5 years old, and AAA guides.
  10. Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  11. VHS videos and cassette tapes
  12. Time/Life book sets

How to Donate

Following the guidelines above, please bring your donations to the Friends of the Hockessin Library shed located in the lot across Old Lancaster Pike from the Hockessin Fire Station at the intersection with Mill Creek Road. Volunteers will be standing by to help you unload from 9am until noon. Be sure to ask for a donation receipt if you need one.
